Thought I would try to get Sparky's clock working today, so out with a spare, and that didn't work either :evil:
I haven't done a clock before so I gingerly took the back off and looked for the bit that needed soldering. I couldn't find anything so was going to ask on here, but noticed a pair of electrical contacts, open a few mm.
It occurred to me that these were the contacts which, when closed, formed the circuit to wind the clock up. As they were not quite touching, the clock had not been rewound and therefore had stopped. I rewound it by gently turning the wheel so that the contacts fully opened, but it didn't start to tick, so following an old thread I gave it a shake.
It started ticking, completely wound down, and the contacts closed up.
I plugged it in and it started working
It's been working for 10 hours now so I am hoping it will continue - you never know your luck
