Hi all
I've got a 74 3500 running a Toyota W58 gearbox (was like this when I bought it). Up until now its had a smooth clutch and gear change with no problems.
In the last week or so I've noticed a couple of things that are causing me some concern:
1. When stopped and I put the car into first gear, there is a small "noise" and the car ever so slightly knocks as it goes into gear.
2. When stopped and in 1st gear with the clutch depressed, the clutch occasionally makes a noise (I can only describe it as a swishing type noise) and there is a small but noticeable vibration coming through the gear lever.
3. I've noticed the level at which the clutch now engages the gear is slightly higher and at the top end of the pedal.
Other than this, the car is driving quite well and the other gear changes are fine with no noises, vibrations or problems.
Any thoughts about what its likely to be? Worst case scenario is that it needs a new clutch but I want to check before going through the motions of dropping out the gearbox.
Cheers
Mark
