Seen earlier today by one of our customers at Keys Auction House, Aylsham, Norfolk.

Apparently looks very smart. The car is a 2000 auto.

looks nice but whats with the double overiders? :D

Because if you take the underriders off, you'd have to change the number plate holder too..

I know that but why didnt he do that  :D
Each to their own design likes and dislikes.
All 2000/2200's had front underriders and the big overriders were an optional extra,as better bump protection required by some drivers for parking!!
I would of put some on my blue 2000 but didnt have any spare ones!

Dave far be it for me to split hairs but if you had over-riders on a S2 TC you didn't get under-riders IIRC, they have a different mount for the number plate.

Your right there nick i think tony has that set up?

Maybe true Nick,,but wouldnt that be a dealer fit?
Didnt they all come from the factory with underriders as std!?
So if you wanted to you could have both!

I'm with Pilkie here. Nick. The key phrase that is missing from the previous posts is "SC". TC's always only had proper over-riders. SC's always got the under-riders from new. But there seems to have been a dealer fit option - or at least common practice - to offer a set of over-riders as well. Particularely on the later 2200's. And when this happened the under-riders seem invariably to have stayed in place.

Thinking it through, the sort of people who were going to buy 2200 Auto's from new were going to be readonably elderly and reasonably wealthy - a typical "retirement car". So Rover should have realised that they would be likely to want all the gew gaws, wheras in fact the 2200 Auto was relatively stripped down, spec wise.

a friend of mine has a tabaco leaf 2200sc auto and has the underiders but has a webasto and front head rests, i guess the owner didnt want the bigger overiders?

Not sure. I know several S2 TC's which have never had under-riders.

I have both, but i think the overrides have been moved outwards a bit to balance things up.

And i rather like it 8)

I've always thought having both looks a bit strange, but I agree it looks okay if you space them out properly. I prefer the smaller underrider types on a 4-cylinder as it makes the front look cleaner, but a V8 really suits the more aggressive flavour they lend.

Hay guys , you all forgot the original post about the nice looking convertible ! put your anoraks away now it's going to be a nice sunny day

Indeed a nice looking motor!.......anoraks............. hmmmmm thats an especially spotless looking motor in you sig line there Stina

nuf said I will get my coat

Anorak on!
If you had over-riders fitted to an SC as an option, then part of the kit was an alternative number plate plinth, that bolted to the bumper using a pair of chromed, dome headed bolts, so you could then do away with the under-riders.That was obviously Rover's intention on how to fit them, but I suppose a lot of dealers probably didn't bother & left the under-riders in situ. Early cars had to have 2 holes drilled in the bumper to take these ( quoting fitting instructions here ).
If anybody would like some of the chrome bolts, part no:562420, then let me know, I've got a bag full of new ones. Their no good to me but their too nice to bin!
Roly.
