"custom" P6

BMW had a whole lot done by well known artists of that time ,in the mid 70's and 80's. Google BMW Art
They looked fanastic
Perhaps this P6 was a doodle by an up and coming tryhard in the same vein .
It does mention the camera missed the colours rather badly , and only produced black patches .
I would have liked to see it in better light.
Not a bad idea in my mind - but !!

A period picture.

Wonder if the car survived, I don't think that they used the best examples back then to do this sort of work.

The vehicle details for CPO 19L are:

Date of Liability 27 01 1983
Date of First Registration 15 02 1973
Year of Manufacture Not Available
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 3528cc
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type PETROL
Export Marker N
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour BLUE
Vehicle Type Approval Not Available

Sadly, but perhaps unsurprisingly, it seems it didn't make it past the age of 10 years old :(

Unusual for it still to be on the database given how long it's been since it was taxed...

Hi, could it be that it still exists? Is the registered keeper keeping details up
to date e.g. change of address? Is that why it is still on the register?

Colin

I think the 1983 date of liability means it made it onto the new computer system, which I think was done sometime in 1983. Also, that is the date it last ran out of tax too, and it's well before the SORN requirement date, so yes it may still exist, but it's quite unlikely I think. I've been trying to trace the whereabouts of my old MK1 Granada Coupe, reg HCO437N, but that hasn't been taxed since I sold it in 1994 to a "MK1 Granada specialist", who I now believe was a banger racer.

The DVLA website may be slightly misleading as the date of liability I think refers to the last time the car ceased to be legally taxed, or SORNed, so if that date is before SORN was introduced on 31st Jan 1998, it could be that it is sitting in a garage somewhere, as it doesn't need to be SORNed if its been off the road since before that date. But it could equally mean that it has been scrapped.

With my Ford Anglia, which was last on the road in 1979  , we had a letter from the DVLA in 1983 saying that we had to inform them in writing if we wanted to keep the car registered on the new DVLA computer, (which we did), and that still exists, but has a date of liability sometime in 1979. So in reality, probably only the owner knows if it still exists.

maybe im bit stuck in the past i love it, but i could nt see it being welcomed in Scunthorpe lol.
very cool thou
marcus :D

I loved that Mustang, Vampirella or Heartbreaker as it was also known, and this seems to be a P6 version of it or rather it reminds me of it, so a big thumbs up from me combining two of my loves from motoring history.

I like it too. But I think it would look much better if you blacked out the screen surround trim, the gutters and the B post trim - leave the glass frames bright. How about a photoshop(or should that be photchop?) Rick?

Had to look twice to convince myslef it wasn't a BMW. For some reason, I kind of like it too  I can't explain why but it kind of looks OK  Maybe I need therapy :? .

I wonder what the technical specs or mod list was.

Looks tall and there is a lot of clearance on the rear arches.

The side exhaust is outrageous but I wonder what kind of lump was connected to it.

Surely someone out there must have some knowledge of such a distinctive P6??

Hi, a common mod at the time was to fit Jag rear end but I am not sure on this
occasion. However it has modified rear arches and I think 15" wheels, probably
XJ6 tyres on. With modded arch and door he hasn't had to worry about D post
clearance and would raise it's stance.
