Not necessarily. You need to check the switch on the cable behind the centre console and make sure that it's fitted correctly and working as a first stop, and check that the otter switch is only earthing out when the engine is up to temperature.
If you twist the choke knob and the light goes out chances are it's the switch behind the console incorrectly fitted.
will this affect the running of the car i ask this because the car starts and drives fine but if i stop and switch it off for a few minutes then start again it goes about 100 yards then splutters and cuts out and wont run again for about half hour
had 2 of my otter screws fail due to age/corrosion. Otter with itself is faulty and needs replacing ( 5 years time? ) lol so just disconnected wire for now. as I rarely use choke and always push back I don't need orange light. Plus the twist and lock isn't working on my car ! checked with mirror and tried fixing it but its a real pain to get to and do anything with so gave up.
