DE DION to Elbow threads

Hi

Has anyone ever just had the flange holes drilled out on the de dion to elbow on both sides if the threads are shot and just used longer bolts and nuts?

No reason it cant be done that way if you cannot find the right size studs to fit.

Not without going underneath mine I think if you were to drill the threads out of the elbow to put the same size bolt through there wouldn't be enough room for the hex head or nut to fit on the outer edge of the elbow flange. It maybe possible to helicoil any stripped threads to refit the original spec bolts in place?

So after a little ponder on this i managed to get a 1/4 inch unf tap and managed to re tap them, the bolts go in fine just need to see what they are like with a bit of torque on them. fingers crossed. Cheers for the input guys.

Chris,

If the bolts go in and you are a little unsure I would put bolts and springwashers on with longer bolts.

if you get really stuck you could always use a helicoil, and by the time you get to the last few you will be getting realy good at it.
