Dipping rear view mirror

Phil,

Is your currently fitted mirror got a smooth base at the Roof

If yes pull the mirror and the mirror comes off complete to reveal some screws and base plate.

The rest should be clear

I've checked my existing mirror and yes, it is the pull off variety.
The chrome dipping mirror I have purchased only has a fitting on the back for what I believe is the plastic windscreen protector. There doesn't appear to be any other fitting for attaching it to an arm or direct to the roof fitting???
Phil. :(

Sorry Phil,

I haven't seen one on the flesh.

I just had a look in the parts catalogue. Does the mirror have an item code of 37239.

You may need an older type stalk which you don't have.

there is a hole at the end of the stalk and the mirror is fixed to the stalk by some kind of screw which goes into the back of the mirror. You can change these mirrors quite easy.

Look out for pre-74 cars.

The mirror you have sounds the same as the one Ive just fitted to my series one 2000,these mirrors as far as I am aware only fit the 2000 and early 3500 models. If you can get hold of a 2000 mirror stem it will fit I guess youre car is a 2200 or later 3500 with the later style mirror fitted. good luck gary

Thanks for the responses.
The part no. on the box is 367397 and I think you're both right that I need an older stem......anybody got one they want to sell?.
Phil.

Phil,
Have you had any success / response to this yet, as I seem to be building a fine collection of mirror parts (and still collecting!) for the P6 I may be able to send you one.
If you need a stem that screws to the top of the windscreen surround would you prefer a chrome or satin black one?
Please advise or e-mail me direct (look under club officials)
Regards, John.

Phil,
Thanks for contacting me directly. I have sent you some notes and four close-up digital photographs which should make everything clear.
Regards, John.
