Door bracing?

Hi all, a friend is going to replace the rusty front drivers side section of the base unit this weekend. The front splash panel, base unit and inner sill back as far as the jacking point has rotted away unfortunately, what's more unfortunate is a previous owner bodged it all with fibre glass, filler and lots of underseal! I bought complete repair panels from mgbd but he plans on only using what he needs as the majority of the sill area from the jacking point back is ok. Would the door gap need braced whilst it is being welded or is the base unit strong enough to take having some of the sill cut out and welded without distorting?

the base unit is very strong. unlikely to give issues unles you remove the entire box section.

Ok thanks, I thought it might be ok as it looks significantly sturdier than the triumph herald I have, that definitely needs bracing when doing major welding!
