Electric Wiper Delay Unit

This is quite an old thread so you may not get a reply.

I have one on my car so can try and help.

The black is on a ring terminal attached to the mounting bolt.

The other wires connect to the loom with spades.

I would say you just remove the wires from the vacuum unit and connect the electronic unit.

Hi. Thx very much for your pictures. These help me to allocate the connectors to the old vacuum delay governor side to the electronic delay relais. Regards Christian

If interested please find here my test result with the above electronic wiper delay relais from BMW/Hella.

I attached the connectors from the pneumatic wiper delay governor directly to the electronic delay without a separate wiring loom (DRC 2021) and adding a earth wire and an additional wire on port 53a. Et voilà. Works like a charm with a fixed interval of around 6 seconds.

As you can see, i have still the pneumatic delay governor mounted, which i was able to overhaul and make it work again by cleaning the inside and replacing the foam rubber on the top of the non-return valve. I also had to repair the wiper park switch which can be split into two halves to get to the internal contacts and clean them. After cleaning it, it can be glued together with Araldite (two component glue). It seems, that an indentical park switch, which can be screwed on the housing, is no more available.
