I'm just about to buy a Accuspark electronic dizzy but they don't stock it for a rover p6, she's a a1973 2000 TC and the dizzy says 25d.. They have the 25d dizzy but need to what other car it shares please help as I'm just about to pay for it..

Hi, don't buy just anyone. The 25D refers to the dist body. Everything above the
baseplate is similar to other engine applications. The weights and springs under
the baseplate for the ignition curve are peculiar to the engine. This is identified
by the multi digit number after 25D. Buying one for the wrong engine will cause
more problems than it solves.

I bought a 25D4 electronic ignition from Simon's BBC last week. I've fitted it and had no problems as such, yet. If fact, I believe the acceleration is smoother through the revs and in general the engine seems a bit more smooth.

That said. I don't know how much of that is in my head. Either way, I have a '72 2000tc

Hi, I think their is some confusion here as to whether you are buying a complete distributer
or just the hall effect pick up to replace the points!!

Im still trying to buy the whole dizzy as the vacuum on mine has gone thought I may as well replace the unit, if I can't could I just buy the kit? I hear somewhere that my coil has a balest resistor, (I think it has) small metal cylinder type thing on top of the coil? Does it not work with one? Can I just buy a coil without?

You can pick up a new vacum chamber cheap. Strip the dizzy down and clean it up (on mine the bob waits were stuck) and fit the basic kit...

Needed to file down one of the screws to get it to sit flush, only took a few seconds.

Fitted without bypassing the ballest resister, which meant I kept the standard coil. Runs like a dream. :)

Hi just for info, I bought a replacement vacume unit for my dizzy from the distributor doctor, he will ask for the long set of numbers on the unit this is so he can match the correct vacume unit to your car.

Thats probably a supressor, balast resistor is elsewhere but with the ignition unit just means you have to take a feed from before the resistor which isnt too hard!

ive got an accuspark ignitionmodule to fit in the garage, looks like a nice bit of kit!
