Engine bay, inner wings..

Hi, my P6 is for daily use and although I want it to look nice, keeping it protected is more important. My inner wings have surface rust breaking through but are still solid. What is the best thing to do? I don't want to take the engine out in honesty! Would you paint it with a brush then once properly dry rub down with some wet and dry 1200 grade?

I need to do the same job on mine as part of my restoration work. I don't want to take the engine out either if I can help it,. My car will hopefully be a daily driver too, so panel protection is my main aim.

A lot of people on here are using epoxy mastic on the black areas of the bodywork with good results. I think that's the route I'll be taking when I do the job. I believe the epoxy mastic provides the protection, then a coat of satin black over the top gives the cosmetic finish.

The engine bay will be the winter job on mine, meanwhile I have got to the places I can with a rattle can of underseal and then satin black paint.
Unless you strip the whole area back of mechanical items.its bound to show up somewhere that its been sprayed.
I am taking the eng/box out this winter as I want to fix a leak on them and give them a good clean and paint as well, not to concourse but just nice!
And,,my personal opinion!
Dont go with the gloss black look,it is awful.
And has to be near perfect to look anything 1/2 decent if you do!
