Engine bay painting

Hi all. I'm getting the engine bay painted and would like to know the best paint to use. Do I use satin, or gloss with a matting agent? I'm told that satin stays quite soft and gloss is best, but what proportion of paint to matting agent do you recommend? Any help gratefull of course.

I had a lot of trouble with this one when painting my bay. I used 2 pack with a matting agent but it's doesn't go satin unless applied in thin even coats (the matting agent sinks)

I found a supplier who sells a product called orgiplate see link Thread

but I didn't get on too well with that either (tried it on the heater box)

If I did it again i'd just go for gloss and save a lot of time and hassle. It can be polished and waxed afterwards for protection (satin can't be polished of course!)
