engine keeps cutting out

Ive just come back from 100 mile round trip from Blackpool to Todmorden in my Series 1 v8 auto and at every junction she
keeps dying on me.She has never done this before today and i was just wondering if long periods at motorway speeds maybe to blame for this.On idle she ticks over at about 750rpm and just driving round town behaves herself but its just when the throttle is opened for long periods.Any advice guys????.One thing i have mastered is left foot braking to keep the engine going tho!!!!
 
sounds like the carbs need a bit of a clean/tweak - next time it happens try puling out the choke a little say an inch - it should not I think be "rich" at that point but will give you fast idle ( happens a a lot to me ...)
