hi,i have an oil pressure problem, once the engine is warm the pressure drops to 0psi & oil light comes on.recon bottom end 17000mls,used different oils etc, checked gauges, senders, even fitted a separate oil gauge, could head gaskets be faulty?,

Does your separate pressure gauge confirm no oill pressure ?
If so I think you've got problems with your bearings or the oil pump. Was the crank ground to the right size ? I can't see head gaskets affecting oil pressure
What is your cold oil pressure ?
You could check that your sump has not been dented in and covering the oil pick up. That would be a simple fix

hi dave, when i first fitted this engine in the pressure went off the gauge when cold, settle down to 30/35 psi when hot,now when i fire up it goes upto about 40 psi,as temp increases, pressure drops, this is also confirmed by use of a seperate gauge,0psi below 1500rpm when hot, there is no rumble associated with mains wear(had a p5b,sounded like a wellington in a tumbledryer),the sump is free of any damage, pressure measurements are taken from oil light switch, there are no nasty rattles apart from the odd cam follower, originally this engine was destined for a race preped tr8,oil filter housing was changed to suit p6 . kind regards ,kevin

I would suggest looking at your oil pump. Check to see the oil pressure relief valve and spring are in good condition; easy and cheap to fit new parts - you would need to prime the oil pump though - not so easy and quick.
