ET phone home

Umm, this might be a daft question but is the ET the same on all 4 vitesse wheels? If so is it necessary to have all 4 machined or just the back ones?!! I could just measure them but they're buried at the mo. I have searched but couldn't find that specifically. I imagine it wouldn't cost much more to do all 4 anyway once set up but thought I'd better check.

The ET is 40 on Vitesse wheels or as close as tolerances could make them. (not very  )

If you only did two, what would you do with the spare?

Mine are still 40.

Nail on OK in the end - although I lost the SD! grease caps :(

Ride is a bit hard now - what sort of pressures should I be running on? (205's)
Also 2 tyres 'out of shape' according to fitter - these came with them and I'm thinking that's causing a few low speed vibes. I put them on the back.

This goes under the heading of cautionary tale!

I'm in the middle of changing P6's (photo's etc later as available). So one of the tasks has been to swop the skimmed to ET43 Vitesse wheels and 205/65 tyres onto the new steed (name of "Lucky" on account of a 777 reg no). All OK on the nsr but on the osr all a bit tight and just the faintest skim under adverse conditions. It turns out that the osr has had a repair to the D post (high quality and completely 100%) and the new metal isn't quite in the same place as the original. Grrrr!!! So we've had to skim a couple of the wheels down a couple more mm, which is the absolute maximum, even to a slight undercut. If that works then I'll do the fronts to match, if not, it's off down the body shop.

Bearing in mind this is the first time I've actually got to drive a P6 with these wheels and tyres, the results are somewhat unexpected. First off I would say the steering is lighter than on standard 185's!! That's very unexpected and has caused me to cancel any plans for a conversion from manual to power steering. Also the turn is dramatically improved even before I fit the uprated anti roll bar. I suspect these are both due to stiffer side walls thanks to the low profile? I've been running 28psi all round but haven't had the chance to experiment yet. Needless to say, grip is outstanding and now matches the stunning performance of the new brakes (Geen Stuff kevlar pads on a multigrooved vented disc with widened standard calipers at the front. Standard so far at the back).
