Exhaust for a 2000SC auto series 1

Thanks for the support chaps! :D I've not heard anything further from trading standards so far, but it's not long since I was there at all. Needless to say, I'm still after an exhaust, so if anyone has, or knows of one that I can have cheap, I'd be very grateful! :)

Well, trading standards have spoken to the chap, and he's ignoring them he says. When they told him he could be taken to court by me, he wasn't remotely bothered apparently. If I want to take him to court, I need to get an engineer's report on the car, for £40, and then pay £75 in court fees. I he doesn't turn up, I automatically win, but then I have more expense in trying to get my money. I don't think it's worth the hassle, or money, which is really irritating, especially as he can continue to churn out such shoddy work.
However, I've tracked down a new mild steel backbox for £50 and a mid section for £30. All I need now is a half decent front pipe. If anyone knows of one, or of even cheaper other exhaust bits, please get in touch. :D

Hi Fraser,

Have you got one of those "Consumer Programmes" on your local radio? Our local BBC radio station does them. If they don't do something about it, they get named and shamed on air. Surprising how often they get a positive outcome.

Then there's always "Rogue Traders" on the telly.

Always worth a go.

Bri.

Funnily enough, I've just had a call, about 10 minutes ago, from someone who I'd phoned earlier today about exhaust bits, and I've bought a front pipe for an auto for £20. :D I also bought a mid section from him for £25, but I'll buy the backbox from the other source I found for £50.
Thanks for all of the support everyone! :D

Regretfully, I agree with your not worth the hassle assesment. It bothers me immensly that people who are so dodgy that they are happy to set uout to flout the law get away scott free in this manner, while the likes of us, who try to be law abiding, get stuffed every time! I really do think this is the time for a TV or radio consumer affairs programme. Or even better - get all your mates together and parade up and down in front of his place on a Saturday with placards! And make sure the press are invited to join in the fun!

Rant over.

Very pleased to hear you now have the outline of an exhaust! Looking forward to seeing you further afield now!

Chris
