fading vinyl C pillars

I was wondering if anyone has ever had a problem with their vinyl C pillars fading. Mine are brown (tobacco leaf 74 2200TC) and are starting to fade at the bottom and are fading in patches further up also. Is there any way of rescuing them? any help appreciated. Also is there any way of protecting my opening vinyl roof from fading?

Yes, you can buy vinyl dye in a spray can that will recolour your quarter panels. Search on Google for vinyl dye.

If it's just that the finish is getting a bit duller and losing its sheen, the best product I have tried by a country mile is AutoGlym Bumper Care and Trim Gel (green label). It's leaves my pillars with an even sheen that lasts for weeks and survives regular washes and rain fall. As they're black, they can probably be revived a lot more easily than the brown, but it might be worth a go as a temp measure.
I also use the gel on the rubber everywhere else - the handbrake and gear lever gaitors have never looked so good! You can forget Autoglym Vinyl & Rubber Care. It's brilliant on the dash and interior, but for exterior and hard wearing areas, this stuff is the business! Michael

I was using the Autoglym vinyl and rubber care to no avail Michael but I will certainly try the Autoglym bumper care and trim gel. Unfortunately my C pillars are brown so I will probably end up getting some vinyl dye as Testrider suggested. Thanks for the help chaps.

When I had my Webasto fitted I was told to use Armoral on it. It comes in a spray and protects the colour from fading.

All those products are great if the colour is ok and they will leave a good shine for a few weeks, but if it's faded the vinyldye spray makes it look like new and is cheap and easy to apply.

I'll confess, Lemmy's panels got a wipe down with some baby oil when I was trying to soften some dried spots on the rear seatback.

Thought it would wash off and run down the side of the car but no!! They're still just as glossy

They do say peanut butter is good for cleaning plastic trim/bumpers but I've not tried it .Can't stand peanut butter !

All I would say is don't use a silicone based spray like Back to Black, it tends to create black streaks down the paint.
