FEK, prices still on the up!

Looking on the DVLA site, FEK was first registered 2 May 1968. That's a fairly early car..

Indeed !

FEK 546F is on my database and the oldest still existing P6 Series One V8 with chassis number 425... I know.

i would feel wrong making anything on it non standard and not being able to restore it to showroom condition. It had been playing on my mind a lot. Finite funds and a young family certainly mean my p6 ownership has to be pragmatic!

i'm assuming Rudiger thinks it's an honour to own the oldest one - but i sort of consider it a responsibility as well in that it needs treating more with kid gloves than i think i can achieve! (ham fisted beginner and the first car are a difficult combination!)

In theory Ian Trapp's Talago is the earliest surviving 425 - according to James Taylor's book and the original log book for the car it has the base unit from 42500019A, a white Three Thousand Five, which was originally TXC745F, then later VXC211F.

I'd like to think there are a few other really early ones about.

Cheers

So I say - not the oldest but the lowest 425 chassis number on my database (just over 425001..)

Maybe it is really on a jack in this photo. In the first photo it seems to be normal.
Another "mistake" are the front overidders fitted on the rear bumper. :?

The back end is a touch high on this one though :?

It's facing downhill and if he has let it run a little forward then stopped it on the handbrake, the P6 will do this. May even have reversed it up and stopped it on the handbrake.

I'd be more worried about his use of red paint under the bonnet - those elbows look terrible.

Hmm - seems almost "too" shiney under the bonnet. No history and no idea of total mileage. I notice the heated rear window switch is the older pull type - shouldn't it be the nasty black toggle type on a '75?

You're getting good at this Neil!

Yes, theoretically it should have the switch unless it was built pre-circa October 1974 - it's a '1974 model' as opposed to '1975 model' which have the illuminated switch. It's certainly, if unmodified, a 1974 model as it has the longer gear lever.

My 2200 auto was built 3rd December 1974 and has the ilumated switch.

The car may have hung around a while before being registered, by no means uncommon at this time -my brother's 3500 auto was built in January 1975, but not registered until the September.

Cheers
