Fitting Electronic Ignition

Hi, I have a 1968 3500 V8 and was looking to fit an electronic ignition. I have seen these for sale http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI. ... TQ:GB:1123 but am aware that these are for the later type points set up than I have. I have a Lucas 41176 distributor and this takes the earlier type points. The supplier has said that all you need to do is drill a new hole in the new pick up mounting plate to line up with the old points mounting screw position. I know the car is negative earth so that is ok but it also mentions a 12v non ballast system is recommended (what does this mean)

1.Has anyone carried out this conversion on the older type points set up and is it as simple a mod as the supplier suggests and just drill another hole in the plate?
2.Would I need to by this kit to include the new type of coil or would it be better/ok to use my existing coil?
3.Is there anything else I would have to change, wire in, disconnect?
4.Can anyone supply a step by step idiots guide to fitting this kit, or would it be better to get a mechanic to carry out the convertion?

Sorry for so many questions but bit of a novice. Thanks :)

Don't know the answer to your question but thought I should say hi to the owner of another 68 v8 :)

Hi Rich, hello to you as well. They're getting a bit scarcer now aren't they.

Noticed that you're from Loughborough, I went on my first date with my missus at the Charnwood Club in Shelthorpe Ave in Loughborough, don't know if you know it?

Cheers,

Dom.

I know it ( or where it is at least ;) ) - we live in Shelthorpe for our sins on Beaumont road :)
