- 1.6L Rover K-series petrol engine
- Central locking, immobiliser, electric hood, leather upholstery, 2-door (electric windows), alloy wheels
- Just under 80,000 miles
- MOT - Good until May 15th 2016
- Located in Central Southend/Westcliff, Essex
I've owned this car since early 2002, but sadly now is the time for it to go. Bodywork is in fair condition for the age (one or two 'dings'). The hood fabric and window are fine (no tears, but it needs a little manual assistance to get up). Recently, it started drinking water and I noticed a little 'mayonnaise' on the dipstick. Be prepared to replace the head gasket (well, it is a K-series). The car can be driven, but with this in mind I wouldn't advise doing so over long distances.
I haven't put it in for its MOT for this reason; as someone who doesn't drive much any more, there's little point. Its last MOT pointed out the following 'advisories: Clutch thrust bearing noisy (clutch works fine, though); front brake discs slightly worn; oil leak; minor leak of exhaust gasses from centre box. It has been driven little (approx 1200 miles) since then.
I'd like it to go to a enthusiast who can spend time on it rather than get scrap value (I've had enquiry from someone who just wants alloys and hood). There are fewer than 500 of these cars (which weren't particularly common to start off with) on UK roads now. It was a nice car to drive, and could be again! A future classic? Buy this Cabriolet today, and get it ready for some summer fun!
