forum frustrations

Bit of a rant but not about this forum which is one of the best forums I have ever been part of.

Why when someone posts for say a part wanted do people who dont have the part or know a source of the item start posting on the thread. Helpful as it can be if the post has been up for a few days or weeks then an alternate is fine but not straight off the bat.

I also get a bit switched off at thread hi-jackers.
 
i'm mr tangent... I'm a whatsit for sending threads off in a different direction i think ;) (I do try and restrain myself though! )
 
Whatcha needing then Arthuy, I've looked on "wanted" for any recent hijacking but failed to find any. (Although to be fair I'm also a member of the Tangent Club as well so maybe not the best at staying on the point, Oh look a moth! Where was I again?)

Sometimes an off topic bit of chat is fun/ok but some good threads can be ruined. We are all guilty I suppose :?
 
I think we've all been there on other forums, the tangents on Classic Rover are usually amusing, and also informative, not necessarily about the topic posted, but we get there in the end. It's a sort of gentlepersons club for petrol heads, whereas some forums have long seated bullies who wait waiting to give supercilious metaphorical kickings to the unwary.

I wouldnt this forum is the best----thats relative---for a rover problem its fine---yet the forum I spend most time on is meant for Omega's yet has a section for any other car---and you get a reply usually within minutes not days or hours-as some forums do---friend had renault-went on forum----no reply from anyone for 3 weeks
-the Omega forum had his problem sorted out(member went to help) And Have to agree about thread hijacking too
