Hi,

Wheres the best or cheapest place to get 2 new front calipers for my 1970 V8 Auto please?

Or matbe even some used and good working ones?

Thanks in advance :D

Hello John,

It is my understanding that new front calipers are no longer available from Rover parts suppliers, although you can purchase new pistons and seal kits. Reconditioned calipers are available on an exchange basis,...ie..you give them yours first and then they supply you with the replacements. Price for the exchange calipers is in the order of 150 pounds per pair. All of the above is available from J R. Wadhams. Rover Classics can also supply pistons and seal kits.

New front calipers do pop up from time to time on Ebay, but given their age piston corrosion is a distinct possibilty.

Ron.

If you'd like a really big bill, P6 V8 front calipers are common with early E Type Jag......

Far better overhaul the ones you've got. If you're planning on keeping the car a long time stainless steel sleeves in the bores and stainless pistons are a good plan. I believe Wynne's do these exchange.

I tried Brakes International but they only have one caliper in stock and dont know when they will have some more?

Can anybody reccomend J R Wadhams? they have them for £67+VAT +Delivery =£172!

I have never rebuilt a caliper before, and there doesnt seem to be much difference in the cost of rebuilding compared to buying a refurbed pair.

I have used these people for seals in the past and was going to get them to re-sleave ( stainless linings ) the P4's front brakes cylinders next year.

Suspect they will exchange / rebuild them within a few days

Wins are certainly the best for brake bits IMHO. One of the good things about living in Surrey (if there are any) is that they are not far away. http://www.winsintltd.co.uk/

Past Parts excellent on Dunlop bits.
