Front Fog

Hi All,

I seem to remember mention of some cars only being fitted with one extra (fog) lamp on the front....

Looking at my 72/73 2000sc I have one lamp bracket on the nearside, which looks like it has been there for ever - and nothing on the O/S.
Also, I have a pair of wires (untested as yet) adjacent to the N/S bracket too!

Does this mean I had a factory single fog lamp at some point? Or would this be out of the question on such a late car?

Thanks

Jim

It was quite common years ago for cars to be fitted with just one foglight. The classic example is that of the P4 Rover 90, one of the distinguishing features was the 'standard foglight', fitted on the nearside (above bumper).

One of my P6 brochures clearly shows a series1 2000 with just the one fog light fitted on the nearside, under the bumper (1968/9 brochure, car is G-regd but I suspect is an airbrushed older photo of a D-regd car).

I can't say I can recall seeing a series2 with just one foglight, but that might simply be because most people bought them in pairs by then.

As far as I am aware, regs. just say 'not more than two'. Link attached for info., but not sure if this is the latest.
