Front strut "push rod" removal & lowering info?

Hi everyone.

Just a quickie......does anyone know if the front strut "Push rod" that goes against the spring cup unscrews from the main strut?? It looks as if there are threads in the strut hole but not 100% sure.
Can anyone shed any light on this one?? I am looking to lower the front slightly.
I am open to suggestions as to other ways i can lower the old girl!
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers!!

The rubber covered ball end which fits into the front suspension top link and pushes against the spring cup is a press fit. It has no threads.

To lower the front suspension, you can do any of the following.

Remove the spring and take out any shims which may be present. Because of the design of the suspension, a small change here results in a larger verticle displacement.

Remove the spring and fit a shorter one it place of the original.

Remove the top link, drift out the rubber covered ball end, shorten the rod which is affixed to the top link that retains the ball end and then refit the ball end after increasing the depth of the hole to compensate fror the length reduction.

The easiest, and I say that lightly, is the first option.

I have seen a P6B lowered at the front by 50mm by adopting the third option. Fitting shorter springs at the rear kept the car level. It did look pretty good I must admit, and the owner happily told of how much better the car handled.

I have pulled out and rebuilt my front suspension, new bushes throughout and new progressive springs fitted, and I can say with absolute certainty that it does make massive improvement, but the task is also massive.
