Hi, a minor complaint on my 2000 is getting it into 1st gear;
when I slide the lever across in neutral it meets with no
resistance until it is in the reverse position, so I have to guess
the position of 1st. After a year its still awkward to use.
When I got the car 4th was difficult, so I had to move the
"Gate plate"back a bit, as it stopped 4th fully engaging.
The problem was there before I did this. Also, under the car,
the gearbox mounting "snub rubber" and locating bar are not
aligned as the Book says they should be. the hole in the rubber is way bigger than the diameter of the locating bar,
but would moving the bar to the centre make any difference to anything? THe main issue with the gears is there is no
"spring" to return the lever to the first gear position. Hope someone can help. I'd like to have it right. Thanks, Wakey.
