HALLO

Just to say hallo, my car is a 1975 2200 SC Auto. It has done 69,000 miles and is all taxed and MoT'd and in frequent use. The only things that don't work are the kickdown as the cables is broken and has been for 11 years, and interior light as loom got cooked when last welded - where does the live feed go up to the interior light?? Cheers Steve, Hertfordshire

Hi steve, in my 3500s 1974 interior light wires go up in the "A" pillar drivers side, not sure if yours would be the same. One of the guys will have the definite answer soon though

Hi Steve :)

Get that kickdown sorted, makes a fair difference to the driving experience and helps the gearbox too

Yes Welcome :D I agree with Grim get the kick down sorted. nice to see another local(ish to me) p6 owner on the forum  If you fancy a drive we have a meet to night at the case is altered in pinner Nice gathering and location.

Thanks for the info, kickdown cable is next on the list after replace nearside rear wing and Octobers MoT, can't make Pinner but thanks - I'm actually in Sawbridgeworth which is nearly Essex - cheers

yea the interior light goes up the drivers a piller and its a purple wire i have had my off 2day as i am going to re root the wire from the battery so i can put a switch in the system

Hi Steve

Everybody is keen on you getting the kickdown cable sorted because it doesn't only control kickdown.... It also controls all the control pressures in the box, so without it connected your box won't work properly on change up and change down points, nor will the holding pressures on the bands be correct. So it's really quite an important thing to put right!

Chris

OK thanks for the info, I've just been moving the gear selector down if I want to do something in a hurry, but if the MoT doesn't cost too much to get through will do it. Where is a good place to get a cable and gasket for a BW65?? Cheers Steve
PS saw a Sandalwood coloured P6 at Luton this morning heading towards the M1 - first I've seen on the road for over a year!

The car came with its original handbook and a brochure for all the 1975 Rovers, on reading it today, it says the Auto 2200 has a BW35 box, whilst the 3500 has a BW65 box, so thanks for alerting me. I'm running the car on a restricted budget, so if the MoT is passed without too much expenditure, then I will do the kickdown cable - I last did one 35 years ago on a Triumph 2000 and it wasn't too difficult I seem to remember, but then I was younger! From your signature info you seem to be a specialist - what would it cost to have this work done ?? Essex is 300 yards down the road and I spend a lot of time in Burnham-on-Crouch ,so I'm not far away.

If you do decide you want it done for you, get back to me at the time and I'll sort something out for you. Incidently I got a brand new cable yesterday which I'm pretty certain is for a 2000/2200.
