The Fourth is well and truly done, but I thought I would post a few pics from my neighborhood to give you an idea of what goes on. The part of Orange County that I live in allows fireworks, most of the adjoining cities do not. Here is a picture from the city of Cypress, where fireworks are illegal - it's less than a 1/2 mile from my house.
In my neighbourhood everyone has something going on - there are usually a load of parties as people come from neighbouring communities because of the fireworks.
There is always a giant bike parade - it's unofficial, but everyone knows about it and the local police show up to close off the intersections - they even turn a blind eye to drinking in public and riding motorcycles without a helmet.
Although fireworks are legal, most of the better ones are banned. There is a $1000 fine if you are caught, as my neighbour across the street knows all too well - the cops are out in rented cars on the 4th - all the better to catch you with...
The legal fireworks are a bit lame, but everyone else does, so why not...
Of course, anything that's illegal is naturally much much better...
