HEATER WIRING/ REAR DEMISTER/TEMP SEND/GAUGE

Oh no, just got car MOT'D and a strange smell from the glove box!! There have been a few eronious electrical problems as of late, however I think this may be the catalyst I needed to fix them properly! A quick investigation revealed the only way forward was to junk the OE fusebox and install an AM market one. One painful day later and job done. However two issues (on the electrical side remain)

1 Rear screen demister switch lights up red when pulled. 12 volts detected at one of the spade terminals near rear windscreen, (but not the other, normal I presume?) Volts drop to zero when switch pushed in, yet rear screen demister does not work. Any thoughts!

2 More worringly, with all fused removed the heater still works perfectly! If left on the motor starts as soon as ignition position 1 is acheived? The heater is obviously wired live to something it should not be! I am keen to wire this back as it should be or at least ensure the motor is fused correctly! Everything seems correct at the fuse box end IIRC there is a large green brown on the supply side and 2 smaller brown purple on load side. Can anybody advise me where the live connection on the heater motor actually is located. Obviously I need to trace this back and establish where the heater motor is getting its supply from! I am hoping the wiring is easily accesiable, as looking on here anything to do with the heaters on these cars looks a right pain in the b side!

3 Car used to run at 85 on the gauge all the time, however as it was slowly leaking water eventually the temp would start to rise on the gauge and you would know the radiator was now only half full. I have fixed the leak, flushed the cooling systom and removed fan and replaced with thermo controlled electric fan. Fan works as it should apparently coming on at when coolant reaches 85. However the temp gauge indicates only 82 when the fan is on. Once on the fan useally remains on until end of journey. The heater output does not seem as it was also (heat wise) I am not sure if the car is now actually keeping to 85 but the gauge is reading low, or the thermo device is coming in at 82 instaed of 85. If it is the second not a problem the thermo cut in temp can be adjusted up or down on a screw. If it is the first could I have a faulty temp sender? The needle does seem to judder sometimes. Crucially I can physically turn the temp sender connection spade both anti and clockwise within its housing, IS THIS NORMAL OR IS IT BROKEN?

I know this is three queries instead of one, but one problem is too easy right?

As always thanks in advance for any help/advice

After a decent shakedown run the Temp gauge now reading 85 all the time now, heater feels how it used to, thats one problem fixed without doing anything except driving it, cant be bad!
