Hi Peter.
I sold a sweet running 2000tc engine and box to a guy/dealer in the states,he wanted me to take it to his shipping agent at Heathrow. I made sure that I had the agreed sum of money,by ppal paid in full, before I took it out and got it securely prepared to take to Heathrow.I was lucky,:p I borrowed a van from work "even free fuel!!" on my day off, and on the same trip,I also collected a hardly used bargain 150lt 3hp compressor I bought off ebay from Guildford,so it worked out well.
I also sold a N.O.S, 6 branch stainless TR6 manifold to a guy in Hawaii, that was £70 in shipping costs alone,I again made sure I had full cleared payment "bankers chq" of the agreed total, before I shipped it.
You will need to drain all fluids, and securely strap the g/box to a small pallet, any little bits and bobs put in a secure box and strap it firmly to the g/box/pallet.If I remember right the g/box is about 25kilo.
Best you contact a local shipping agent to give you a price and they can collect it from you as well.
I deliver local stuff for Nightfreight and we ship all over the world.
Most large couriers have a web site you can visit to get a price from.
You will need a collection postcode and a destination postal/zip/area code!
Scammers are few and if he is a genuine rover owner, ask him if he is on the rover forum or is a club member!!
Check out his profile and his feedback to see what others say!
ONLY!!!!!! when you are 100% sure you have the money in your hands, send the goods!! and never send "CHANGE"!!!
Good luck
Dave

Small world ain't it?

Peter and Dave,

i am the one who is interested in the engine/box. Mind you i was a bit nervous buying sight unseen, and i also wanted to post something here in case anyone knew the seller, but Peter came here first. Anyway, Peter i think if you follow up my posts in the forum, you 'll see that i need an engine / gearbox!
We will be in touch...

Hi Peter
I did not know it was Demetris either! But I can vouch for him. If you look back in posts previous I have sent boot hinges to Greece on his behalf.

hi demetri,

it is a small world.... thats put my mind at rest and will have no problems helping you out ill try and get the box out at the weekend weather permitting of course. If you want to get in touch email me anytime and ill get back to you..........still cant get over the fact your in Greece ....these
p-sixes are everywhere :D

Hi all,

finally, i am getting the engine/box from Peter. Now i am in the procedure to get shipping quotes.
So i would be grateful if you can suggest any haulage company that you have used in the past for similar purposes and were happy with.

Thanks in advance,

Demetris

hi

Im going to b and q at the weekend to buy some chipboard and a few lengths 3x2 to make a crate for shipping the engine.

Does anyone know if this would be suitable

hi, as i am in business i use couriers and ship heavy items. a pallet will be needed as the engine needs to be lifted on and off lorries etc, so will need a forklift truck to do so.

Peter

I have seen engines just strapped to a pallet before and shipped all over the world.

I suspect the main concern of the shipper will be is it empty of any oil and not caked in grease/dirty oil.

Thanks guys ill try and get a pallet will be a bit of a job as i drive a saloon the engine is clean as a whistle so ill empty it before i take it out
