The Yorkshire Rover Club were having a get-together at the Saltaire Festival near Bradford a month or so ago. Living locally, I decided to pop down. Glad I did. Not a huge number of cars, but they were all turned-out well, and people were friendly and chatty.

There would have been a lot more there but the weather was against the show and a fair few didn't turn up. :(

Sparky would have been there as well, but was on his side having some surgery :(

Welcome to the forum and go get yourself a car :)

Richard

I hope Sparky's feeling a bit better now!

Thanks for the welcome, Richard T.

Hi Matt, glad you made it to our Saltaire show. The weather put a few off, and we were limitted on space so had only accepted so many entries.

Yeah, weather was a bit on-and-off. All the cars looked great, though. I took a few snaps, which I'll try and put up in the Events section soon.

Cheers,

Matt.

Sounds like your car was originally sprayed Turmeric (the SD1 yellow colour that went on the last 18 months of P6 production) - the paint started falling off (as the paint on late cars is want to do as the SD1 paint process was flawed), so it was resprayed Lunar Gray.

Cheers
Nick

Ah, Turmeric - the really yellow one - not Almond as I thought. Great info, thanks. I had just thought a subsequent owner had found the yellow "visually challenging", and gone for a more muted tone!

Cheers,

Matt.

I'll have to get Josephines engine done then & return her to the road. I'll find out what's wrong with this 2000SC lump too.

I've been offered two apparently good (and they're coming from a very good home) 2200TC engines complete recently Mr R.M.
I may have a home for one of those. Let me know if one comes up please :)
The last one advertised on here was not actually available after all :?

Well my plan at the moment is to use the new pistons & crankshaft (standard size) which I bought from Steve Walker quite a while before he passed away. The bores are worn but I have a 2000 block which I'm going to have bored out to accomodate them. The head I had rebuilt while she was still on the road. I have various other new bits & pieces for it too & I also plan to fit PAS to her with a new 3500 steering box also bought from Steve & an electric pump/reservoir purchased from Harvey (not to mention help & support from same  )
Which reminds me Nick, I also need the wiper system from a V8 for that project, so can you add it to my small list please, V8 front disc shield brackets, dashtop (dial-type).
Thanks.

With a sweeping generalisation I would say that most people want a V8, hence they survive in relatively greater numbers and attract higher values.

As Nick says, 2.2TC is a very good drive, not far off the V8 in outright performance, however not as smooth / relaxed.

Wonderful in the mid-ranges though!

Cheers
Nick

Hi Nick, Richard,

Not having driven many P6s (so no real benchmark), I loved the performance of mine -gutsy, nice gearing, and still made the car rock when prodded at standstill! With a nice throaty exhaust note. The only V8 I have driven was this one many moons ago - apologies in advance for picture quality - dark/raining:

Great burbling V8, but not a whole lot quicker. Maybe not a tip-top example?

Been thinking about a V8, but have spotted this up for sale down in Cornwall. Sorely tempted.

One of the very last cars in Lunar Grey, I think. And a 2200TC. :)

Matt.

Hi Nick,

Here's the link:

http://www.sterth.co.uk/main.htm

Loads of history, attractive price etc.

Cheers,

Matt.

Looks good - and it should be for that price....however anything can look good via a few small photos on the internet. Needs to be seen in the flesh/metal!

Certainly a very late Lunar Gray car. Full vinyl roof - which may have been added - I don't believe it was an option on a 4 cylinder until slightly later.

Cheers
Nick

Lol, definitely! Could be Swiss cheese beneath, I suppose.

Didn't know that - good knowledge.

Hi Matt

2200TC's are late enough in the production run to be potentially very vulnerable indeed to the tin worm. The outside panels are absolutely no indication of this - the only bit that matters is the base unit. Therefore you need to verify that the St Erth car is really as good as it looks. The only way to do that is to visit it and make sure you have a good poke around underneath with the car on a lift. And take someone who knows what they are looking at! (I'm happy to go if you want me to!) That said, a really good 2200TC would be a very good buy indeed, and if it really is as good as it looks, potentially worth the money! Mind you I'd knock him down to below £3k on principle! If I didn't already have Lucky I'd be interested!

Not sure that particular princess has too many redeeming features... The early ones and the ambassadors i can see as good though. The thing with those cars is that from the outside they dont look anywhere as good as they are on the inside. They are plush and luxurious!

Hi Chris,

Yeah, gonna have to ponder this one (and consult the powers-that-be!). Heck of a long way away, too. And the offer is greatly appreciated.

Lol...it would be rude not to!!!

I've just picked up on this thread after doing a search on member's posts for NTS809R as I recognised this registration number............................It's bad news I'm afraid, I bought that car from a Scrapyard in Gosforth & I broke it for spares. If it's any consolation it was absolutely rotten & the engine was siezed
