hi from the coromandel peninsula, nz

hi there,im karl. i live in thames north island ,new zealand. i joined up a cple of weeks ago,but hadnt said hello. i purchased a 70 v8p6 (red of unknown colour) series 1. i travelled 7 hrs with a transporter trailer to pick her up as she was in unknown condition. i had seen a internet photo and a chat to the man who was selling on behalf of the owner(residing in usa,who sent me the orig. papers from there).we found the farm in the middle of nowhere almost, and started her up afta looking her over, and drove her onto the trailer,we left for home. it was a bit of an adventure,as my wife and i left thames at 2.00 am,leaving our 3 boys with nana and poppa.anyway the trip back was uneventful, but she looked impressive in the rear view mirror, seeing the chrome grill mostly. the towing telstar v6 was plenty powerful, just, but there was very little traction from the front wheels lol.we took a longer trip homeward bound as we dropped in to see my sister, and didnt really think about some 1st gear hills to cover aftawards.we ended up travelling in dark and rainy conditions, with my wife taking the wheel for a bit,to give me a break.( mostly proud of her,it was no mean feat).back in thames and i took her in for a warrant, and guess what, all she needed was a high beam lamp and the rh bearing tightened.altho ive maintained and dressed her up a bit,she is my daily driver to wrk and has been the main car for my wife when the v6 was of the road, taking the kids to school and errands.most reliable (except when the petrol runs out, guage a bit out),starts every time.she does require some up and coming wrk and does require a new coat of paint, but take her out every chance i can get.i have read some of your guys/girls comments and have learnt alot, giving me some options to explore, but not wanting to go too far in mods.great site and some nice car pics.i will endeavor to load some of mine for you too view.just a note, i havent joined other sites b4,but im so impressed with everyone being so helpful and the wealth of knowledge avail.

Welcome to the forum Karl and well done on that epic trip fetching your new Rover back home - buying cars locally is boring!

Did you take any pics of the journey or the car?

Welcome to the forum Karl.

I saw a P6 parked up in Thames main street when visiting my mum and helping to build their house in Te-ana lane, sadly I didnt get to chat to the owner.
This was back in mid 1995,they have now moved to the northland to Waipu.
Look forward to seeing some pics of your new toy,and dont hesitate to ask the forum if you need any advice.
