Hi on my car there are fitted HIF6 carbs.

Sombody have a answer for me , i have search on drawings and pictures on internet but can't find anything about this.
The old choke has 2 cables who fitted on the carb. But when i turn this 1/4 it stay's not in position so i am looking for a new one.

Hi Hans,

I've made some pictures for you showing the choke arrangement on my car. The single choke cable goes to the lefthand carburettor (drivers side) and is connect with a linkage to the righthand carburettor.

On this picture you can clearly see the arrangement.

You can see where the choke cable enters through a small tube (upperleft corner), then pressed together with a screw which is connected to the choke lever of the carb, and then on the rightside of the picture you can see the circlip that holds the linkage.

Hope to have helped you.

I can't explain how it should be, but there are illustrations in both the Factory WM, and Haynes, which are as shown in the above pics, but taken as viewing from directly behind, which give a much better idea of how it should be. Only manual choke conversions on P5B's had twin cables.

Ok i start reading , but the choke with 2 cables is that not original ?

I think it's from a P5? I have a bill from the previous owner that fitted it (and it worked irregurlarly!)

I would've taken a picture from behind but on NADA's there is foam padding which blocks the view. I already dismantled the aircleaner to take these. Is too damn full under the bonnet! :D

Just because a previous owner fitted it, it doesn't make it original, in fact in my experience that's where most of the problems start.
I've only see twin cables on V8's as a manual choke conversion on P5B's which were only fitted with HS6's, never HIF6's. Manual choke conversions on P6B's when replacing the AED's used a single cable and a link rod in the kit, and that was only on HS6 carbed cars. HIF6's were always manual choke as standard, using a single cable and a link rod.

True. Orginally there was ofcourse the notorious automatic enrichment device which pratically killed of the 3500S in the USA. After importing the car to Holland, the previous owner probably removed the AED from the HS6's and converted it to the P5 arrangement. Then we removed the HS6's altogether and have optioned for the standard HIF6 single choke cable + linkage setup which was standard after 1971(?) on all P6B's.
