Hockey stick

I'm looking for advice on replacing the hockey sticks and drain channels above. I have replacement parts and I would guess that the hockey stick was originally attached with spot welds. Can I use plug welds from above to attach them or should I go down a different route?

If the two surfaces line up nicely then there's no reason not to plug weld them from above.
