I take it back,

I hadnt been round to the old girl for a about 5 or 6 weeks and yesterday I was round seeing the family. had the key in my pocket by chance so I fired her up and she came up straight away and ran well. didnt have time to take it for a run.

So I went round today and she fired right up , I took it on a a 20 mile run and got some petrol too and she ran perfect. I guess I can tune su carbs after all :mrgreen:

it must have been too hot before as in the garage on one of the hottest days of the year and stainless headers. it nearly killed me anyway- got about five burns and heatstroke :p

the only thing I noticed and this is being anal, was after a good blatt then backing off there would be a couple of very small pops in the exhaust (not real backfires, and not out the back of the exhaust)

but from memory thats normal? and I can only hear it becuase I am running a full stainless straight through system with tubular headers. that sound plausable?

I remember my mates 1994 3.9 v8 range rover with no exhaust , yes I repeat no exhaust just headers and man did that pop- all the time- especially when we finsihed another job on it late one sunday night and he went to drive home, I am not kidding I could hear him for 20 mins lol
 
I have to just say , cos I am so chuffed its like a sewing machine under the bonnet, not bad for a 40 year old rover v8- I love it
