idle speed

anyone know what speed the engine should be idling at when not on choke. v8 with manual gearbox and 1974 so its got the emision control if that helps?

800rpm or thereabouts. Not as high as 1000rpm. My auto would cut out if I tried to let it idle below 700rpm. Hope that is of some help.

Sorry mrtask, but if your engine cuts out at anything under 700rpm, then there is something definitely wrong.
