Ignition light

I've just replaced my battery... And the ignition light seems to stay on all the time.. The battery has never run flat and amp metre is reading correctly with regards to driving etc with lights on and off etc etc.. She's a 2000 TC 1973 with the round dials.. I've searched the forum but can't seem to find a direct answer..

Cheers

working on one recently , when restarted the ignition light was on permanently, it was down to one of the wires from the alternator just touching earth , so check the wires from the back of the alternator for any small cracks in the insulation or dodgy connectors where it could earth ,i dont have a manual for the 2000 but on the 3500 the wire you are looking for is black/brown this is why your ammeter and battery are ok ,its just a minor fault on that wire somewhere ,let us know what you find, rich
