Very brave of you  I won't take mine past 50 in third.

There's a yellow dot with number 3 at the speedo at about 85, so at 70 it is a little early to start worrying about.

She is rather reluctant to rev beyond 3,000rpm.

How did you get her to 70 in third then?

Dave

I just waited and waited Dave, and 70 came. As I said, reluctant, not unable past 3,000.

I think I have it narrowed down to exhaust, fuel pump, or lean mixture. Playing and hoping it's not valve timing, which I'll look at next.

I was certain my mixture was about right as I've just a colourtune, but sure enough I'm getting all the symptoms of running lean - hesitation on wide throttle opening, more power when feathering the throttle, no power on hill, firing through carbs on high load, low revs etc. I can't think what else could explain this and I have fixed the centrifugal advance weights.

Demetris, I seem to recall having another conversation about sympathetic driving...........maybe I'm just a worrier :)

What rpm was it showing at 70 then?

Dave
