This title is probably a bit harsh, but I thought I'd let forum members know that I've taken the decision to retire Lady Charlotte from everyday use. She's done me proud over the past few years, with only one breakdown requiring a recovery truck in the past 5 years and 82,000 miles. Even when suffering from recent exhaust valve woes she still kept going. Unfortunately, I now no longer have the time that she needs to maintain her in tip top condition for everyday use and particularly to make sure she's protected from the harsh winter driving she's endured here in the Scottish Borders. So she now rests happily in the garage after I took delivery of a modern steed. Someone asked me recently if I could hear her sigh with relief when I closed the garage door... and you know...I think I can
If anyone is interested the new car is pictured below. It's a 2016 (66 Plate, rather appropriate I thought) VW Passat 2.0 diesel GT spec. That makes it almost exactly 50 years older than Lady Charlotte.
