Hi guys,
would faulty or worn connectors cause a washer motor to work intermittently? ive had some bother with mine recently. the old one wasnt working so the car failed its mot. i bought a new motor, it worked fine at first but then started being a bit intermittent. i thought it was an issue with the hose inside the bottle so i pulled it up a little so it wasnt tight against the bottom of the bottle, and everything seemed fine. car was due in for mot today and motor wasnt working again.
well i say not working, it could be heard turning over but it just wasnt picking up water. then the negative terminal connector perished. it was very worn. i trimmed the cable to expose fresh wire and tried re-inserting into the connector. couldnt really get it in right as it had been crimped but i could get the motor to turn over again. sadly still not drawing up water though.
so, could faulty connectors be the issue? the motor clearly works as it has peformed ok on occasion. but could faulty/worn connectors cause the intermiitency and also cause the motor to run but just with not enough juice to suck up water?
apologies for the rambling message. trying to give as much detail as possible.
