Hi all.
I am a little confused ??? I always thought that a brown vynil roof, sills and 1/4 panels was regarded as huntsman!! However,as there are 3 shades of brown used that I know of,which one IS huntsman?? The dark, medium or light brown??? or, are they all regarded as huntsman???
I know one of you experts on model types/colour combinations will know for sure :p I hope!!! ???

My 1975 V8 wears a Huntsman roof. I have seen earlier cars with a much lighter roof. I have a 1971 Rover cars catalogue which lists Huntsman on the options list.I have seen other cars around the same year as mine where the roof looks darker, but I have always assumed that these have probably been recovered. :;):
I have a NOS roll of Huntsman vinyl in my garage, and it looks just a little cleaner and brighter than the roof on my car, but barely noticeable. I have been using it to recover some series 1 quarter panels that are rust free, to replace my totally rotten ones.
If you ever need touch up paint for your sills the colour code for a good match to Huntsman is RAL8014 Blasse Braun.

My 73 3500s came with "Huntsman Brown" vinyl roof and quarter panels and painted sills. I can only describe it as "mid brown". I also inherited the original colourful sales brochure which shows a 3500s with "Huntsman Brown". It was photographed in an English woodland scene and featured an Englishman wearing a tie and a young woman who displayed an inordinate amount of leg.

Was that the Brown or the Leg Pilkie?

I agree about the brown though. We had an L reg 3500S in (Mexico?) with a light brown roof and sills and I've always had the idea it was much lighter than the brown you see on 3500 autos. I've got a lurking suspicion it was special to early 3500S only and only happened with Mexico and White paints - but no evidence to support!

I think that you could be right on that one Chris. The car that I saw the much lighter roof on was indeed an early 3500S. K reg if my memory serves me right. It was one that I drove all the way down to Bracknell, in Berkshire to have a look at,when I was after one. Usual story, looked amazing in the photo's, rotten as a pair underneath, and a vendor who thinks that he's sat on a gold mine :(
