Silly question, but hey....

Can someone explain, or send a photo of how the jack and wheelbrace are meant to be stored in the boot?
I know its something to do with the bracket and the rubber rings in the left side, but I can't work it out!

I can rebuild the rear brakes on a P6, but this has defeated me!

Thanks.

Hi,
No silly question...
I want to refresh this thread. My car came with jack and wheelbrace, but simply in a box with a lot of rubbish. I tried to fix it, maybe it works with the jack, but the other...
I also have a piece of round steel bar, which I can plug into the jacking bracket. Think, it´s for a hydraulic jack, did this came with the car.
It´s not a urgent matter.

The rubber rings are there to hold the jack, a mechanical device. The Rover did not come with a hydraulic jack. I have seen two types of wheel brace, one looks like a cross, the other is just a singular length, integrated socket for the nuts on one end, tang for removing hubcaps on the other. The latter came with my Rover, fitted with 'S' type hubcaps. The former I have seen with Rovers sporting the alternative hubcaps.

When I read again my question, I only understand half of it
Ok, that´s what I mean, see photo encl. I´ve put the jack in position, but I do not know if it´s the right position. The smaller rubber ring broke, but I think, it´s the right one. No problem for it. But if jack and wheelbrace is correctly positioned, it will rattle around, or ? By the way, there are sometimes advices, not to support the car under the standard jacking points, as I do as seen on the 2nd photo. Not correct ? Or not recommended for cars with rust here ?

There should also be a tool roll as well ,which I think will pack it all out with the wheel brace

I've always put the jack the other way round, with the handle knob towards the outside of the car. As I only deal with series 1 cars, the lug wrench is a right angle shaped version that fitted better between the jack and fender, and the tool roll acts as the anti-rattle device.

Yours
