Hi, this is a slightly tough decision as memories of my ride in buttercup, the fact that this was the chatterbox replacement and Jod's own charm make me want to keep him, but I think it would be wise (considering my latest purchase and that he is currently my least insurable car as an 18 year old) to offer him up for sale.
JOD24N is a 1975 Rover 3500S in tobacco leaf, with huntsman, with a sandalwood leather interior, with rosewood door trims. He needs a fair amount of work doing to him, although to all of my cars, I am slowly trying to execute the small (cheap) tasks when time and money allows.
What Jod has:
- A proper P6 towbar has been fitted,
- Fully welded underside,
- Non PAS, with a non PAS bakelite wheel fitted minus the centre badge (meant to be more stable at high speed),
- Sundym tinted glass,
- Good engine oil pressure (about 30-40 psi idle from startup, dropping to about 20 when warm),
- Bucketfuls of charm and character.
What Jod needs to become roadworthy:
- Brakes overhaul,
- New tyres,
- Exhaust centre box (the tailpipe on rear box is rusty but seemingly okay),
- Drivers side door lock's attending to,
- Fuel system clean and connecting up with fuel reserve tap needing fixing and one carburettor has a stuck (open) float due to a small amount of dirt that needs fixing,
- Drivers seatbelt replacement,
- A good service.
What Jod could do with to become better condition:
- Ideally, replacement doors, wings and paint,
- A drivers side rear seat back in sandalwood boxpleat leather (to match the rest of the interior),
- Woolen carpet for the drivers side inner sill and *bit that goes just in front of the rear seats (to match the rest of the interior),
- Replacement headlining,
- Better bumpers and overriders,
- Some small spots of rust that need a welder shining over.
For now, Jod needs a good clean and polish, which he'll be getting in due course. At the moment the photos are pre-clean but I will try to get some clean/better ones as soon as possible.
Jod and myself are located near Grawall Auto's (LandRover specialists who are recommended Borg Warner gearbox refurbers). Price wise, I need money with modern car insurance renewal coming up in a few months time, and I need to insure my new p6 desperately too. As a result, I'd love £1000, although as a P6 enthusiast, I am fully aware that this is steep - so offers are invited. That said, this is a car with a solid welded up base unit, and a good engine/gearbox, with a rather nice (in my opinion) colour scheme.
I have more photos (under and about the car) if they're needed, please PM me your email address, and I'll send you what I've got.
Many thanks for looking, Adam.
