Josephine's Revival (Youngest owner)

So after delivery yesterday and a first wash we gave her a more thorough clean today, shifting the grime that comes through years of sitting around. My younger brother cleaned and hoovered the inside. She is actually looking quite good and straight.

I have started to put together a list of things to do and of parts to get, my dad says he can already feel an ache in his wallet.

Love it. I was doing exactly the same at your age. 28 years later...... Great to see people still taking an interest.

As your first venture further, I'd remove the cover sills and take a look underneath. Once you've done it once, it'll only take you 10 minutes next time. If solid, a damn thorough clean, some heavy zinc paint and £20 worth of dinitrol would be the wisest investment you'll ever make ;-) Lift the rear seat cushions and take a look in the corners...

There are previous repairs present. I took the nearside sill off to send photos to John & Mike. There's a penny-sized hole near the B/C post which needs a patch but on the whole she's very good.
We welded the offside up a few years back. Inner sill, front/middle floor section, under seat recess & nearside boot mount. Also replaced all the rear drop-link bushes.

Nice to see another young member tackling a P6, I got my v8 for my first car and it has been my first restoration and rebuild... just need time to finish it. Any questions, the wonderful people in the club are just a few clicks away, have helped me a lot over the last couple of years. Best of luck and enjoy it :)

The proper work started on Josephine this weekend after a good spruce up last weekend. We started off with something simple, trying to take some of the play out of the steering. After putting fresh oil in the box and adjusting it we realised that not all the play was in the box so we checked the tie rods and realised that most of the play was in them so I will have to source some better ones.

Some pictures of when I was taking the play out of the steering box, I also took some pictures of the interior.

Looks like you've got an excellent example there to tinker with. I'm so pleased that P6s have really taken off with younger owners, as they're immensely satisfying to own.

Glad that you've got a car with what sounds like an excellent base unit, that you can do a lot of work on as you see fit. Envious of it being a 2200TC! :)

A bit of gardening work has seen some paving slabs laid on what was the front garden so Josephine has a new parking spot. The reason is that my V8 is back home following a few months at John's college, lots of service work carried out, new discs and rebuilt calipers on the rear and new UJ's throughout.

I had not named DLT, reference to the now disgraced DJ seems inappropriate, but seeing them together, maybe Napoleon would suit?

With Josephine we seem to have an issue with the starter just now, it spins over but the solenoid does not seem to be functioning, it needs to come off again for checking and cleaning I think.

AUTO ELECTRICAL PARTS

A local outfit who have been in business for donkeys years. That's where I go for my electrical parts & they have an ebay page too. Cheaper than the specialists.

Josephine is looking very clean now, brings back some memories. ;)

Just heard from John. He's been busy despite the lack of posts (updates on his FaceAche page). Turns out the engine in Josie was defunct & has been replaced plus a bit more welding was needed to the base unit. Running now but not yet on the road, she'll be on the P6 stand at the Practical Classics Restoration Show at the end of March.

Another young member with a lunar grey rover, yours seems to be getting on better than mine but im doing a full strip down and re-build How old are you mate? Im 17 but got both my nada and s2 3500 when i was 13

Oh to be a teenager again with such enthusiasm for a P6.
My first car passion at 16 was a Cortina. How misguided .Still loved pulling bits off it and getting greasy.
