Leaking Fuel Pump

Greetings all! I have a 1972 P6 3500 automatic. The fuel pump was recently rebuilt and functions fine. However, there is engine oil leaking fairly heavily from the pump itself. After cleaning and examination, the leak appears to be emanating from the metal dowel that acts as a fulcrum for the fuel pump arm. The attachment to the engine block is dry. There is no fuel mixed with the oil. Before pulling the pump, I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem, and, if so, what his remedy had been.
Thanks in advance for any input.

The pivot pin should have little cup shaped caps pressed in to seal it in the body. In my car one came out, the pin moved, no pumping, failed to proceed.

Did your pump leak engine oil when the pin moved? The caps on my pivot pin are missing, but, I've managed to keep the pin in place by fashioning "stops" made of thin metal, which are held in place with a cold epoxy product (JBWeld). Again, the pump functions normally.

I replaced the pump with an electric immediately after the failure, so no chance to see oil leaks - HUCO 133010 for engine bay fitting, and blanked the pump mounting. There should be a seal inside the pump to stop oil leakage.

Part of the reason I was so pissed off about the pump failure -----my road side service included flat bedding home in case of failing to proceed, so I called for that. The !@#$% driver failed to secure it properly and it came loose and smashed the offside front on the truck - their insurance covered it, but it took several months before I got it back. Sob.
