Leaking Oil

Hi,
I bought a 1973 P6 auto late last year. My problem is that it is constantly dripping a mixture of oil and green fluid. I had a mechanic look at it and he says that it seems to be comming from between the gearbox and the engine. He mentioned the bell housing.Did anybody else have a similar prob. or know the possiable reason for this leak.

Also I have a thermostat clock that as soon as the car is warmed up, the clock reads hot. I got another clock and it does the same thing. What type & number of thermostat would be fitted to my car.

Any help or thoughts would be gratefully appricated.

Regards,
Michael Frayne.

Yep. At the rear of the head there is a rubber o-ring that seals the oil gallery to the camshaft. If the head gasket starts to go and the o-ring with it, you'll get this mixture at the back end of the head/block join.

But before removing the head, take a couple of minutes to check your heater hoses and inlet manifold just in case it's a water leak there combining with some oil on it's way down.
