You may recall Lucky had some new springs recently. I had them wound specially for me by a local firm in Kingswood, Bristol. The rears to Rover HD spec and the fronts as standard.
I realised that the rear had sagged sonmewhat more than I had expected for initial settlement, but luckily the front had too, and the overall effect was rather pleasing. (a self lowering car anyone ) We had also tried a mod to the bottom shock absorber mount to make it rather stronger to go along with the Rover HD dampers. Well the mod to the bottom mount didn't work (or in engineer speak - showed evidence of needing further development!) As a result the bottom eye of the damper seized to the mount and quickly fatigue fractured away from the main body!
So far so easy to fix. But on going under the front wing to do this, it became evident all was not well with the spring!
The firm have taken the springs back and are replacing in a higher vanadium material and Ian Wilsonn came up trumps with a pair of new fronts to get Lucky up to Rugely. But I could have done without taking the front end down for a second time!
