m.o.t pass!

The local garage I take my car to has just changed hands, so I was a little apprehensive about booking the car in. I booked it anyway for this morning and was relieved when the new owner said "I used to work on them" with a big smile on his face. I was further relieved when I got there today and found that the usual staff are still employed. I am happy to say I got a pass! I took the car in a month early so that's 13 months of P6 motoring ahead of me, I really need to use the car more this year too. Oh, and I got one advisory (rear pads wearing thin). The new owner happily said "One advisory!, that's better than a lot of three years olds we get in!"

Next year I'm aiming for NO advisories!

:D Let me be the first to congratulate you Will - well done and hope you have 13 months of hassle free p6-ing.

Know what you mean about the garage changing hands though. I am lucky there is an old school MOT garage nearby and the guy who runs it used to work on P6s too which is quite reassuring.

With any luck you will just have to change the rear pads.

You lucky sods
we have to get our classic cars MOT'd every six months here in NZ

Thanks for the replies fellas. Except you GRTV8, I'm sorry to hear you have to go through it twice a year.

For all the car passed I did have a little "mishap" while getting the car m.o.t ready  . When checking my lights etc I shifted the washer bottle out of its holder to clean the electrical contacts. Then when everything was working fine and dandy I shut the bonnet (after checking I'd left no tools in there) and took the car out for a little spin. On returning home and exiting the car I thought "I smell burning"?! It was only then that I realised about the washer bottle and found it melted to the manifold!! I still don't know how I missed it?

Great news Will!!! I'm sure it must have been a bonus when he said "I used to work on them" I know it would be for me.

Yes it was haha. Especially after I was told it was the local "Ford parts" suppliers who took over the garage

  at least you won't fall for that one again. We used to have a thread on the fourm where folk could 'fess up to things like that (but I can't remember the title).

Found it. It was the Homer Simpson "DOH!!" thread http://www.classicroverforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=13971 :D

Ahhh, I've been away from the forum for a while so I missed that thread. Well..it's nice to know I'm in good company
