Anyone else see Mr Gray on BBC2, The Joy of Motoring, tonight ?

VVC has had a good clean before hand

Yes I saw it.
Although, VVC looked better than me, even though we had just run down the M6 and no he hadn't been cleaned before filming.
It was actually filmed in Coventry on a very wet saturday afternoon in September 2008, so what you are seeing is a very wet VVC not necessarily a clean VVC. The program aired back in February this year and was commisioned by BBC4 for BBC4, so I was quite amazed to see it pop up again at 7pm on BBC2 tonight. This means it should be available again on BBC i-player for a week, so if you did miss it and you are compelled to watch the program, you'll be able to see it on the i-player.
However, if you do decide to watch it, please be aware that the conversation with Tristrum Hunt (the host) lasted all afternoon and when they edited it to what you see on screen, parts of it don't make sense, because it's disjointed.

Has the P6 club got a mention in last week's Classic Car Weekly with an article about the NEC show and a photo of what I assume is Nick Dunning's P6 on ramps ?

Only reading in Sainsburys so not 100% sure

Rats, not seen that one - I know there were a lot of photos taken there...

Disappointed to find that this months copy of Practical Clasics had a big write-up of the show, but no mention of P6 Club stand. Perhaps they have had their quota through the Mexico Brown TC

I remember when at least half the Practical Classics writers owned a P6 or two, consequently there was almost always something P6 related in each issue. Now they seem to spend a lot of time trying to convince us that 1980's cars were good. :?
At least Classics Monthly seem to do alright. They even featured an Estate a while back. Lots of mistakes though...

A good 80's car ????? now thats an oxymoron if ever there was one

- But we all moaned about what a pig's ear they made of their last P6 "restoration " - the one that suffered numerous breakdowns dddue to fule starvation

Having spoke to Sam Glover (PC Writer) at some length at the NEC, there should be more to come in PC about P6's now that he has his new mexico brown one.
Also someone has told me that Classic Car Mart have given the RP6C a mention and a big picture but I haven't seen it yet, but I think it is the Tobacco Leaf V8 on the corner of our stand that is in it.
The base unit owned by another of our RP6C members, that was on the other CJ Auto's trade stand, to the one Nick's P6 was on, is also in February's Classics Monthly, I heard today.
So there should be plenty to read about over the next month or so.

Hi Marcus
My feet are still planted firmly on the pedals of a P6, so not quite on the floor but close enough and as anyone who knows me, will tell you, I am happy to talk to everyone, no delusions of grandeur from me. That said, hopefully with the program airing when it has this time around, and on BBC2, hopefully, it will get more people interested in P6's, broaden the P6 audience, as it were. After all, one of the aims of our club, like many other classic car clubs, is to promote our classic cars and protect the future of our beloved cars.

Now in answer to Dave's question, I was asked by some people why the P6ROC wasn't at the NEC and why the RP6C had such a big display and my answer was the same to all.
'I am not a member of the P6ROC and therefore cannot comment about that club. But I can tell you why the RP6C had such a big display, and that's because I asked for a big space to put loads of P6's on, to promote the Rover P6 to the masses, as an affordable classic, which makes a superb show car and a superb everyday user.'

It's all about getting P6's visible to the wider audience and that will only happen by getting P6's in the Press, on TV, on CD Sleeves, in Films and on big 'in-your-face' displays at places like the NEC.

Mark,
I would have suggested that you are so diplomatic that you should be in "politics".
However, we all know how THAT topic would develop

Eric

Seeing as I haven't had a proper job for over 12 months, expences like the one's the UK MP's have been claiming would be good.
As it is, because my other half works for 37 hours a week (full time), the UK Government doesn't give us anything!
So for the first time ever since I have done the RP6C club stand at the NEC, I have claimed expences. I claimed for the extra expence of getting the club trailer & equipment to the NEC and back, the princely total sum of £20 and I felt bad about doing that, so how the UK MP's sleep at night, I don't know.

As for being a diplomat, well I can mind my P's and Q's when I need to, but if asked my personal opinion, I am not usually so forgiving. In reality my personal opinions have been known to get me into trouble, from time to time!
