Minilite style wheels

Ive been looking to fit some Minilite style wheels to my P6 3500. Who has already done this, what size did you use and what make of wheel did you go for?

I recently got a quote for some replica JBW (John Brown Wheels) wheels which I have used on my TR7 and look and perform great. I spoke with Midland wheels who I have used twice before and they gave me a quote. I called back today and unfortunetly it turned out they have got it wrong. The JBW wheels are not available in the P6 fitting, they also stated that the 15x 5.5 or 6inch wheels would not fit on the rear because of the low wing line. They tell me that the only wheel to fit is Minilite's own wheel which are considerable more expensive and only fit would be a 14x5.5 or 14x6?

Can anyone offer any advice on this, is it correct information? what is the best size to go for, I was hoping to go with 15inch due to the easier availability of tyres and are there any other brands that I can get hold of new?

Any help would be great, thankyou

Hi Casper - have a look here.

http://www.tyresave.co.uk/minilite.html

They are very helpful and knowledgeable think you will find they will do you them in 14" or 15" complete with wheel nuts, tyres and carriage to your door, and will advise you on appropriate tyre sizes to maintain current gearing.

When (if) I tidy my 2000TC up I hope to fit a set, in the meantime I am trying to fit a secondhans set of SD1 alloys with decent tyres that I picked up cheaply. It would certainly be easier just to order a new set!

Good luck,

Robin

Hi Casper, here's a picture of my car fitted with Minilites taken last year on the Stelvio Pass. It's not normally that low, it's just a sharp corner, but as you can see there's no problem with the wheelarch catching.

The wheels themselves are 14 x 6J and are fitted with 195/70R14 tyres which are everso slightly under sized, but most importantly look right. They've been on the car as long as anyone can remember, the previous owner was told from new, but I don't know if there's any truth in that. The wheel nuts were custom made in stainless by the previous owner as the holes in the wheels are much larger than the studs and aren't tapered so there was no self alignment with them.

15 inch ones might get you a better selection of tyres now if you can find some.
