Looking a bit rough now but with a totally solid base unit (his words), my words are not quite so complimentary :(

Sat in a scrap yard but owner doesn't want to break it, open to offers around £2,500

I have a vague recollection of reading about that car in a magazine years ago. A guy wanted a company car with a bit of flash so he forked out something like 25 grand to have a P6 built to his specs. Always a shame to see someones once beloved car fall into such a state. :(

Funnily enough, that was the story I was told yesterday, although it carried on to the next owner who also spent a great deal of money on it as well.

I would have it if i had the space, but not for that sort of money.

Such a shame the unrealistic asking price  may mean that it rots away there in the yard

If it still has a totally solid base unit, a good LT77 & a functional LPG system, then it could be worth that money. We all know the time & money needed to put right a bad car & then to add the extras. You can see that it's different. That money though, I suspect, is enough to put most people off.

Long term members of the P6ROC may recognise the MJJ bit of the reg.
Think past committee members....

I helped recover the remains of a 3500S which then went on to allegedly be rebuilt to produce this car.
The car was blue and rotten as a pear.
MJJ was only saved as a possible personal reg for another car originally

I must point out that as far as I am aware the company who rebuilt the car did not know
of the provenance or alleged lack thereof or the history of the base unit supplied to them.

MJJ was also not aware of the plans until the completed car 'appeared'.
..and the bill was closer to 35k - paid for as a company car for as I seem to remember
some director of a Lancashire cloth mill or something like that.

Somewhere in the 1000's of pics I have I may have one of it on a dolly as found.

Im with The Rovering Member, from the pics it doesnt look that bad. With the conversion and the g/box IF all is working ok thats not such a bad price. would like to see the other pics of the car to see the condition of it

Look very carefully at the base unit under the bonnet, next to the coil. The rust has started to perforate and therefore is not a solid base unit. It may only be there that it has happened, but you will need a good look under it first.

Look at the front valance where the O/S bumper bracket comes through. The paint has pickled here and is showing in quite a few places around the car as well.

Don't get me wrong, if I had the room to store it I would probably make him an offer, but it wouldn't be £2,500.

He is on 01302 858805 if anyone is interested, car is in Doncaster.

It's probably a lot better than most projects, but maybe not at that price.

Apparently it was driven heavily once completed, 2k+ miles a month, and after 10 years or so, I guess you'd expect it to have suffered, they would have been looking pretty bad by that age when new. Not really like the average restoration that gets stored in a nice garage and used at weekends, it was obviously treated like a new car.

The wood door cappings do look good though :D

I'd like to know how much the breaker paid for it.

I remember reading about the company car P6 many moons ago.

As memory serves, or perhaps not, it even had central locking fitted. I remember a fantastic figure being quoted as spent on it. A shame it has been allowed to lapse into its current state.

According to the DVLA search, it still has tax to the beginning of October. Does it have any MOT?
